People don't follow others because they are perfect as all leaders have weaknesses. So why do they follow. I believe that they follow because the leader has painted a vision of the future that inspires them to action. They are motivated by the idea of becoming something greater than what they currently are. Once that vision is established the leader then must become the servant helping the people that they have been entrusted with to become the best possible versions of themselves as they work to achieve the established vision. Leaders are responsible for freeing the potential in their followers. They must put the needs of the followers above their own. Only then will they be rewarded with a team that can achieve the vision. Followers don' follow because they believe that the leader has no weaknesses but rather because they believe what the leader believes and because they are convinced that the leader has their safety and security as the top priority. Followers don't expect perfection but they do expect integrity, character, and the courage to sacrifice for the well being of the team.
