Don Meyer won over 900 games over 38 years as a college basketball coach and this quote really hits the mark. All of us are blessed with a gift that can lead to greatness. We first need to through careful introspection learn what that gift is and firmly establish our purpose. Many will fall by the wayside and never accomplish this first step. It is an unfortunate truth that all too often gifts go unrecognized. Once we have identified our special gift and established our purpose we need to pursue it with courage commitment and persistence. That is in itself no small feat and requires us to overcome the fears of failure and rejection and continue on when the going gets tough. Here too many are unable to overcome their limiting beliefs to fully develop their gift. The last step is inevitably the most difficult which is giving that gift away in the service of others. Subjugating our desires to help others make their dreams come true. Through that selfless act true greatness emerges. When we discover, develop and align our purpose with helping others to discover their own gifts the magic happens. Find and follow your gift but most importantly give it away.to others. The ability to inspire greatness in others is the truest test of greatness.
