One day after Veterans Day I looked to the military for the quote of the day and came up with this quote from Omar Bradley. Great leaders serve their constituents and develop more leaders. The task of a leader is not to take charge of those entrusted to their care but rather to care for those who they are entrusted with. Many of us grew up watching television shows that depicted the leader as the person barking the orders directing all of the action and sending the team into battle. We viewed the person with the title as the leader. The reality is somewhat different than that. Leaders are not defined by titles and positions but rather by their actions. Leaders come in all shapes and sizes and can be found throughout organizations. Wherever people are inspiring others to grow and develop and capitalize on their inherent greatness, leadership is in evidence. Leaders don't attract the attention to themselves but rather highlight the team members that made the results possible. A leaders greatest reward is not the adulation of followers but rather the development of each individual entrusted to their care.
