Dulles Chamber’s Innovate Conference To Be Headlined By Former U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood Experts from across the D.C. region gather at the CIT Building on March 21 to discuss the necessity of a Smart Workforce in the creation of Smart Cities   CHANTILLY, Va. – The Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that Ray LaHood, our nation’s 16th Transportation Secretary and a respected bipartisan leader during his near-four-decade career in public service, will open our Innovate | Smart Cities, Smart Workforce Conference on March 21. In a thought-provoking and insightful keynote conversation with celebrated speaker Arthur Mason, Executive Vice President at Cassidy and Associates, Mr. LaHood – now a Senior Policy Advisor with law firm DLA Piper – will discuss how we must develop our communities’ infrastructure, adopt new models of transportation and establish clearly defined goals to create Smart Cities and support the evolution of the Smart Workforce needed to sustain our urban environments into the next century. Hosted at the CIT Building in Herndon and sponsored by Dominion Energy, Main Street Bank, the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority and Fairfax County Times, the Dulles Chamber’s Innovate | Smart Cities, Smart Workforce Conference considers the technological innovations in transportation, construction and law enforcement that will arise from the creation of Smart Cities as well as the dramatic changes we should expect in the coming decades in our living and working environments. Some of these changes are already here, with urban planners taking their first steps in exploiting the benefits of ubiquitous broadband access and the dawn of the Internet of Things. In addition to our opening session with Mr. LaHood and Mr. Mason, we are also honored to feature CIT President and CEO Ed Albrigo in a Closing Keynote that considers our region’s contribution to best practices, policies, processes and technologies to equip communities with the resources, support and tools to become sustainable smart communities.
