"Learning is a daily experience and a lifetime mission. I truly believe in the saying "We work to become, not to acquire.""
-- Bill Russell
This quote has two messages inside. The first involves the idea of continuous improvement. It is often said that most people overestimate what can be done in one year and underestimate what can be done in five. If we can focus on learning and improve a little bit each day then at the end of 5 years we will be in a far different place than where we are today. By focusing on learning we can no longer fear failure but rather look at is another step in the learning process. All truly successful people continue to grow throughout their career. Michael Jordan had to learn to shoot better as he aged so he spent hours in the gym perfecting his shot. By combining our skills with a thirst for knowledge and growth we can become the best versions of ourselves. The 2nd part of the quote is even more important. While money and wealth can motivate us over the short haul that alone cannot sustain us through all of the trials and challenges we face. Money doesn't buy happiness. To be fulfilled and happy we need to become that which we are capable of being. We need to be able to make the impact that we desire and we can reach that goal by taking little steps each day on the path to success. Continuous improvement is the key to building a legacy. .
