We rarely know all the challenges that we will face when we consider an initiative. We may begin wide eyed with optimism seeing only the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Or we may know that some challenges will present themselves but have confidence in our ability to rise above those challenges and continue on to the dream. The real likelihood however is that obstacles that we never imagined will inevitably present themselves and block our path forward. How we choose to respond to those unforeseen challenges will determine our eventual level of achievement. It is true that many never really begin the journey because they fear the unknown or the challenges that they can see. The fear of failure creates limiting beliefs which discourage the majority from pursuing a difficult endeavor. Many others will fall by the wayside when they hit that first obstacle being unable to see beyond it and lacking the resilience to continue the battle. The key is to hold the dream firmly in your vision and develop the mindset that affords you the strength to pick yourself up despite setbacks and continue to move forward improving a little each day. If we have the courage to follow that path we will ultimately surprise ourselves by surpassing our goals and achieving more than expected.
