As we approach Christmas we find ourselves in the middle of the season of giving. I remember as a child looking forward to opening the presents that Santa left for me. I was filled with anticipation and even walked in my sleep one year and went downstairs and played with some of the toys before Christmas morning. Interesting how things change over time and now it is in giving that I feel more fulfilled. When you give to others not only do you make them happy but you also get the added benefit of making yourself feel better as well. Your brain releases the happiness trifecta of Serotonin, Dopamine, and Oxytocin and you gain renewed energy and reduced stress and in many cases lowered blood pressure as a result. This year has been difficult for many of us but one of the opportunities that it has thrown us is the chance to become more focused on our community and how to better serve it. By helping those less fortunate we will not only improve their lives but ours as well. The more we give the more we will receive in return. Lend a hand to someone in need this season and reap the satisfaction of making an impact
