As a child I remember waiting for Christmas with great anticipation to discover what gifts Santa left under the tree for me. It was quite frankly all about me at that point. Gradually with the help of 10 siblings we began collecting our pennies and giving gifts to our parents and exchanging gifts with our secret Santa. I remember having numerous long discussions about what we could actually give our parents and waiting with anticipation and pride when they opened those gifts. Though initially those gifts were likely not worth much there was a pride in giving them that brought all of us joy and happiness. That same happiness is available to all of us today in our every day life. When we give of our time or talents to a worthy cause not only does the recipient benefit but so also do we, because we know that we made an impact. Although the gifts may appear small to us, they are quite meaningful to the recipient and could make the difference they need to get through a difficult day or time in their life. A simple gift of a smile or a thank you can change someone's outlook. Look for opportunities to give. They are all around.. The rewards you receive will greatly dwarf your investment .
