CHANTILLY, VA., May 17, 2018 – A vibrant, fun, and entertaining evening at The National Conference Center in Leesburg, Va. May 10 marked another successful year for the Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce’s annual charity cooking competition, DISHED!
This year, six of the region’s top chefs were challenged to create a mouthwatering appetizer and entrée using three mystery ingredients: locally-sourced Yohanan Farms Chicken, white and green asparagus, and jackfruit.
After two highly-competitive rounds – and an unexpected recount – Frank Estremera, Executive Chef of The National Conference Center in Leesburg, was named heavyweight champion of DISHED 2018. His menu consisted of a bacon and eggs appetizer with local kale salad, citrus jackfruit vinaigrette, pan-fried chicken “oyster” and a chicken roulade entrée featuring crispy chicken, asparagus and fingerling potato hash, Old Ox beer and bacon jam, and caramelized jackfruit.
As first place winner, Frank received a $750 price, which he is donating to a local charity he supports, Veterans Moving Forward.
Frank’s career spans much of his life. Starting at age 11 at his family’s Peruvian restaurant, he has honed his skills at some of the country’s top destinations, including Loudoun’s Lansdowne Resort and Lockheed Martin’s Center for Leadership Excellence. He joined The National Conference Center as Executive Chef on May 14.
DISHED! is firmly established as one of the Washington Metro area’s top charity cooking competitions, attracting some of the region’s most talented chefs to display their skills. Attendees get to enjoy the sights and smells of some of the best kitchens in the community region while enjoying samples of local food, beer and wine in a family-friendly setting.
DISHED! continues to be a success because of the generous support members and sponsors. This year, the Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce thanks Amphora Bakery, Andrew Sample Photography, Chantel’s Bakery, DC Prime Steaks and Lobster, Elden Street Financial, Flavour Food Truck, Ford’s Fish Shack, Fortessa Tableware Solutions, Hilton Washington Dulles Airport, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Main Street Bank, Powerhouse Meetings and Events, Resolution, The National Conference Center, Trattoria Villagio and Fairfax County Times for their support.
